#2 First attempt is always difficult

rinko
Hototogisu-Japapnese Cuckoo bird

It is always hard to start any new thing.  Let alone attempting to start writing Haiku, or a blog.

There’s a famous Ku by Kaga no Chyjo-jo (1703-1775).

Cuckoo, oh cuckoo…

 Repeating  the name over again

     The day has dawned

This Ku was made when she met her mentor, Rogenbo, for the first time.  The sensei gave her  a Kendai (proposed theme) “Hototogisu”  and told her to make a Ku and bring it to him the next day.  This was her answering Ku and the sensei liked it and accepted her as his pupil.  Original Japanese: ほととぎす ほととぎすとて明けにけり (千代女)
